The Drug & Alcohol Program’s Outpatient Treatment provides effective, quality treatment to addicted persons and their families in order to alleviate the suffering caused by addiction. This may involve individual, family, and/or group sessions.
Our outpatient program provides a safe and confidential environment to men, women, and adolescents where issues of alcohol and other drug abuse or addiction issues are addressed. These may include:
- Building healthy relationships
- Developing parenting and communication skills
- Utilizing internal coping skills
- Learning to trust
- Learning how to manage life events that occur with sobriety
- Identifying the basic needs of recovery
- Learning how to make effective choices to high risk situations.
Treatment is facilitated by trained professional addictions therapists. Outpatient treatment may involve group, individual, and family sessions. An introduction to the 12-Step philosophy and finding a sponsor is an important part of this program.
This program additionally specializes in alcohol and other drug outpatient treatment services to women and women with children. Research has shown that women’s alcohol and other drug use or addiction differ significantly from men in terms of their social and psychological characteristics. Women with alcohol and other drug addiction tend to isolate and hide their use. The loneliness and secrecy created by the denial of addiction create emotional symptoms appearing as anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. These symptoms of addiction are often misdiagnosed by family and health care professionals, which may lead to more severe progression of this disease. Women participating in this program learn how to overcome feelings of stigma and shame, and learn tools for decision-making strategies.
